Steak & Onions Recipe
Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients:
1 or 2 cups steak, sliced thinly across the grain (you can also start with raw steak)
1 large onion, sliced
3-4 garlic cloves, minced (I love garlic, so feel free to adjust!)
1/2 tbsp shoyu (soy sauce) (just one or two circles around the pan)
1/2 tsp black pepper (sprinkle evenly)
1/2 tsp garlic powder & 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional, but I like the texture it adds)
2-4 tbsp oyster sauce (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup water (for that delicious gravy)
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
Hot rice, for serving
Instructions:
Prep the Steak: Slice your leftover steak into thin strips, cutting across the grain to keep it tender.
Heat the Pan: Warm up a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Sauté the Aromatics: Toss in the sliced onions and minced garlic, stirring until fragrant.
Add the Steak: Stir in the steak slices and let them sear for about 1 minute.
Season It Up: Drizzle in soy sauce, sprinkle in black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Make It Saucy: Add oyster sauce and pour in the 1/2 cup water. Stir well.
Thicken (Optional): If you want a thicker gravy, mix cornstarch with water and stir it into the pan.
Simmer & Serve: Let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until everything is coated in a rich, savory sauce. Serve hot over rice and enjoy!
